Hello. I am Don DelaVega, the RECORDING ENGINEER for Shaolin Records. I record the albums by American Zen and Master Zhen. I am also the STUDIO MANAGER. I look forward to giving that job away real soon.
Richard O'Connor PRODUCES the Shaolin Records projects like American Zen. Richard goes to the rehearsals. He starts working on the songs as early as possible. My job starts when they walk into the studio. Usually I don't know what songs will be recorded. I find out what's going on as they setup and tuneup. Then I run all the machines, feed them tapes, and LOG ALL THE RECORDINGS.
I was trained as a 2nd Engineer by a few people, and it has made me a much better Recording Engineer. One of the most important lessons I ever learned was "LABEL YOUR TAPES IMMEDIATELY."
They only gave me a few pictures. When I get some more I'll post them on some more pages here.

This hole in the ground is one
of my Grandfather's mines just outside of Yuma, Arizona.
The military seized this land for a bombing range. We are being escorted in an army jeep. There's another jeep in front of us. If they hit a bomb, they blow up and have saved our poor little civilian lives. (Military people are well trained in the art of heroic sacrifice). There are bombs, shot from cannons and dropped by war planes all over the place, ones that didn't blow up like they were supposed to.
I've got to tell you, a real bomb is real scary.
Personally, I think the cactus is way cool. Coyote calls it a "Yuma Fern."

You guys are spoiled.
This was my Arizona beachfront.
Lovely place for a suntan, eh?
Actually I love Horned Toads.
Catching lizards. Hmm.
I guess that was my favorite hobby.
Yuma University.
I like the central air.

Actually, I enjoy their Yuma jokes. Everybody's born somewhere. Whatever you lack compared to somewhere else- -you probably make up for in some other quality.
The trick is to find what each situation has to offer
Hey! I hope you enjoy "Page One" of my website. I'll put something of substance on soon. Maybe an essay on Engineering.
