Oh boy.
Today is two years later from my last webstory. I left my family behind, just before Christmas 2011.
I was convinced by a Kung Fu brother of mine that he would help me start up a new Kung Fu school in Las Vegas. He was pulling in $100,000 per year and assured me that I could live with him for a year until I got my school started.
He lied. It turned out he just wanted me in Las Vegas for the annual Chinese lion dances he performed for over 85 casinos and stores.
I wrote a song about all this, "Use Me."
What a nightmare. It was the cycle repeating again. Just as I lost everything when I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1991, I lost everything when I moved to Las Vegas in 2011.
In order to get home, I became a stagehand for Rhino Staging. Saved up enough to rent a truck and a flatbed for my Toyota Tacoma and made it back to Los Angeles.
I returned to a new life of poverty. I lost my YMCA teaching jobs. I lost my Los Angeles Park & Recreation classes. I lost my family.
So I went to San Diego. Seemed like the right thing to do. I had all my relatives, cousins, and friends I grew up with there. Thought it would be a great way to start the TAI CHI YOUTH nonprofit organization again. Start a new school... kind of enjoy life... surf again...
I made it back to San Diego in time for my 40th High School Reunion of Patrick Henry High. Hung out with all my old school buddies, druggies, girlfriends, and musicians... Nothing came of it. No band. No students. No kids... or grandkids of my schoolmates...
I wrote a song for the Patrick Henry High 40th Reunion: "High School Graduation Reunion."
Love,
Coyote
